BRIONES SCHOOL

Welcome back!

Welcome to the 2020-21 School Year! As you know, school will be conducted in full distance learning for the time being starting on Wednesday, August 12. The first step to getting the school year going is for all families to complete the Registration Information and Parents Annual Rights review process. Please see the steps for how to do this below.

More information will be coming next week regarding our school schedule, where to access up-to-date information, how we will be communicating, what classes will be like, class schedules and all of the important details and expectations for the school year!

In the meantime, please complete the Registration and Parent Annual Rights review process. If you have already completed this process, thank you!

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, need any additional information or need assistance with the process.

We look forward to working closely with all of our students and families so that we can make the school year the best it can be!

Important Registration Information and Parents Annual Rights Form

Once again we will be using the Aeries Parent Portal to update student information online. This information will be used to determine enrollment and current information for distance learning or independent study.

All parents should go to Aeries Parent Portal and complete the steps below.

  • Login with your email address. If you’ve forgotten your password (or never received it) simply click the “Forgot Password?” link on the login screen and it will be sent to your email.
  • Please note: If your email address has changed or is incorrect, please call our Office Manager, Cathleen Mariucci at (925) 335-5880.
  • After logging in, you will see a message stating “You have not yet completed the Student Data Confirmation Process, Click Here to confirm…” Click the link.
  • Verify the registration information on each of the tabs. When you get to the documents tab, please click the "Annual Rights Notification Signature Page"
  • Next you will indicate whether your child will remain enrolled and participate in the distance learning program, whether you would like to participate in an independent study program (if you are not currently a Briones student) OR if you are un-enrolling your student.
  • Please note: You must click on each tab (Family Information, Student, Contacts, Medical Information, etc.) and confirm or correct all the data before you can complete the process.
  • Click “Submit Final Confirmation” on the “Final Data Confirmation” tab.

If you have more than one student enrolled in the district, it will be necessary to complete this process for all other students by going to the “Change Student” option on the top left and clicking the link for the next student. Repeat the steps above for each student.

If you experience any technical difficulties with this process, please call our technology help desk at (925) 335-5940. If you need to update your email address, please call the Vicente/Briones Office at (925) 335-5880.

Class of 2020 Update!

The next date of August 6 that we were holding for a graduation ceremony is steadily approaching. Of course, due to the continuing circumstances, we will not be able to have any type of event. If you turned in your materials and Chromebook, you will receive your diploma by mail. If you still have your materials out, you will be contacted to drop off materials and pick up your diploma. All materials must be returned in order to receive your diploma. Please email Mrs. O'Connor at loconnor@martinez.k12.ca.us if you'd like to set up a time or if you have any questions. Appointments to come to the site are required.

Welcome to Briones Independent Study School!

Briones Independent Study School is fully accredited through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Students who successfully complete their high school experience at Briones earn a WASC accredited diploma. There is a 210 credit requirement for graduation and many Briones courses have been approved by the University of California's A-G Requirements. Briones is a K-12 school that provides an educational option that fosters students' academic growth, intellectual curiosity, critical thinking and problem solving skills. The school provides all students with individualized learning plans which take into account diverse needs, individual learning styles and interests.

Students are required to meet with their assigned teacher for one hour per week and also complete 25 hours of course work independently each week. Students in K-8 must have a parent/guardian available to work with them at home on assignments that are based on California state grade level standards. Students who are successful in independent study are those students who are independent learners, organized and motivated to complete work on their own. Enrollment in Briones is voluntary. If a student does not complete the required work or meet with his/her teacher as scheduled, the student will be referred to another school.

Briones high school students are invited to attend a variety of college and career events, workshops, clubs and field trips in conjunction with Vicente Martinez High School. All Briones students are also offered mental health counseling services.

If you are interested in learning more about Briones as an educational option, please contact us at (925) 335-5880 to set up an orientation meeting with our Principal. We look forward to sharing with you our outstanding program that is designed to meet the academic and social emotional needs of all students.
