Kristen was born in Concord and has lived in Martinez for 30 plus years. She attended Diablo Valley College focusing her studies on Early Childhood Education. Before joining the Vicente community Kristen taught preschool for 8 years in Pleasant Hill. Her free time is spent hanging out with her amazing young daughter.

Academic Counselor

Palma Dell is the academic counselor for VMHS.  She earned her bachelors degree in Rhetoric from UC Berkeley and masters degree in Counseling from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga. 

She started her career in Human Resources, working for companies such as Coca-Cola, Kaiser Permanente and Oracle.  After taking some time off to raise her two daughters, Palma is finally pursuing her passion of working with teenagers.

In her free time, Palma enjoys reading, walking her dog, and doing volunteer work.  She is especially passionate about animal rescue and has fostered dogs awaiting their “forever” homes for many years.

A Bay Area native, Palma lives with her husband and two middle school age daughters, and their retired racing greyhound Ace.

Libby Morphy

Peer Mentor & Environmental Educator

Libby Morphy has been with Vicente serving as Environmental Educator since 2017 and gained the role as Peer Mentor in 2018. Libby has a BA from Vanguard University of Southern California in Communication Studies and Public Relations. She has been mentoring youth since she was as young as 16, working with Junior High Students as a youth group leader, and continuing on after High School spending summers as a camp counselor, rock climbing instructor and outdoor educator. Before joining the staff at Vicente Libby worked in agriculture, traveling from farm to farm through WWOOF, World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms and as a full time farmer in the Sierra Nevada foothills for over two years. Libby loves being able to share her passion for the outdoors with students while learning and sharing her knowledge about sustainable agriculture, connecting with nature and living a holistic and healthy lifestyle. She leads students working in the garden as well as supporting them in the classroom and helping to create a stronger community amongst the student body. In her spare time Libby loves to explore nature through hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, paddle boarding and world travel. She has experienced 17 different countries, her favorite adventures thus far traveling around Japan, New Zealand, Peru and India.

Lori O'Connor spent her first two years of life in Martinez! Her father was in the United States Navy and stationed at Treasure Island before her family was transferred to San Diego which is where she grew up. She received her high school diploma from Poway High School. She attended San Diego State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Education. After her undergraduate work she went to work in Public Relations, Marketing and Operations at the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park. After seven years at the SD Zoo she decided to go back to school to become a teacher. She attended National University where she earned a Master of Education Degree in Cross Cultural Teaching and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Shortly after becoming a teacher she attended University of San Diego and earned a Master of Education Degree in Educational Administration and an Administrative Services Credential. Mrs. O'Connor has taught students in grades K-12 and has been an administrator in both alternative and traditional settings. Mrs. O'Connor enjoys spending her free time with her amazing husband, Chris and their sweet "fur kids" Charles, Charlotte, Whitney and Riley (dogs) and Coco and Conny (horses). She loves visiting the mountains, going to the beach, riding horses and driving Porsches!

Mental Health Counselor

Amy Specter is the mental health counselor at Vicente and Briones High Schools. Prior to working for Martinez Unified, Amy was a school counselor for a decade working at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Berkeley, Albany Middle School and The Head Royce School. Amy loves working with adolescents and their families and is continually inspired by the heart, resilience and spirit of her clients. Amy received her undergraduate degree in women’s studies from Penn State University and her master’s degree in counseling from Saint Mary’s College of California. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist and a credentialed school counselor. Amy is also a full time mother, half-hearted blogger and sometime vegan chef.
